Creamy Chicken and Broccoli Baked Alfredo: A Comforting One-Dish Meal

Serves: 4-6 | Prep Time: 20 minutes | Cook Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients

For the Alfredo Sauce

  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1½ cups freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg (optional)
  • Salt to taste

For the Main Dish

  • 2 cups cooked chicken breast, shredded or diced
  • 2 cups broccoli florets, blanched
  • 12 oz penne or fettuccine pasta, cooked al dente
  • 1½ cups mozzarella cheese, shredded (for topping)
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs (optional, for crispy topping)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (for greasing the dish)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Alfredo Sauce

  1. In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
  2. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant (about 1 minute).
  3. Pour in the heavy cream and milk, stirring continuously until heated but not boiling.
  4. Gradually whisk in the Parmesan cheese, stirring until smooth and creamy.
  5. Season with black pepper, nutmeg (if using), and salt to taste. Remove from heat.

Step 2: Assemble the Dish

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with olive oil.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta, chicken, broccoli, and Alfredo sauce. Toss until evenly coated.

Step 3: Bake

  1. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
  2. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
  3. If desired, mix breadcrumbs with a small amount of olive oil or melted butter, and sprinkle over the cheese for a crispy topping.

Step 4: Cook to Perfection

  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden.
  2. Allow the dish to cool slightly before serving.

Chef’s Tips

  • Customize: Add mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes, or crispy bacon bits for extra flavor.
  • Texture Tip: Blanch the broccoli to maintain its vibrant color and slight crunch.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave with a splash of milk to maintain creaminess.

Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley or an extra sprinkle of Parmesan cheese. Bon appétit! 🍽️
