Mushroom and Broccoli Stir-Fry Recipe

Servings: 2

Preparation Time: 10 minutes

Cooking Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (button, cremini, or shiitake)
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (or sesame oil for extra flavor)

For the Sauce:

  • 3 tbsp soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional, for richness)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tsp water (for thickening)
  • 1 tsp honey or sugar (optional, for a hint of sweetness)
  • ½ tsp red chili flakes (optional, for heat)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Ingredients:

  1. Wash and cut the broccoli into bite-sized florets. Slice the mushrooms and onions thinly.
  2. Mix all sauce ingredients in a small bowl until smooth.

2. Stir-Fry the Vegetables:

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the garlic and ginger, stirring for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add the broccoli and mushrooms. Stir-fry for 4-5 minutes until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
  4. Add the sliced onion and cook for another 1-2 minutes.

3. Add the Sauce:

  1. Pour the prepared sauce over the vegetables. Stir well to coat everything evenly.
  2. Cook for 2-3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly and coat the vegetables.

4. Serve:

  1. Remove from heat and serve immediately.
  2. Optionally, garnish with sesame seeds, sliced green onions, or crushed peanuts for added texture and flavor.

Serving Suggestions:

  • Serve over steamed jasmine rice, quinoa, or noodles for a hearty meal.
  • Pair with grilled tofu or chicken for added protein.

Cooking Tips:

  • To keep the broccoli vibrant green, blanch it in boiling water for 1 minute before stir-frying.
  • Use a high-heat oil like avocado oil for a smokier flavor.
