  2. In a small saucepan, heat milk and butter over medium heat until butter is melted. Remove from heat and let it cool to lukewarm.
  3. Add egg, vanilla extract, and red food coloring to the milk mixture and whisk to combine.
  4. Add the milk mixture to the flour mixture and stir with a wooden spoon until the dough forms.
  5. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
